IPIA Statement Responding to An Taoiseach’s Announcement

Responding to An Taoiseach’s announcement that all nonessential retail outlets must close to slow the spread of the Covid-19 virus, Irish Petroleum Industry Association members reassured customers that they will continue to operate the vital network of service stations, fuel Irish farms and businesses, heat homes and keep emergency and other vehicles on the road.

CEO of the IPIA, Kevin McPartlan said “Our products, and the infrastructure that delivers them, are essential. We will work to ensure no disruption to consumers and those businesses which continue to operate.

“IPIA members, who provide 50% of the energy consumed in Ireland, want to reassure consumers that the petrol and diesel pumps will still flow, home heating oil and agricultural fuel will be delivered, and our service stations will remain open.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those involved in the delivery of our essential services, from those who work in our service stations to those who deliver fuel to homes around Ireland.  We are here to serve you, our valued customers, and in turn, we ask that you follow advice from the HSE and relevant authorities.”
